My Obsessions

Tonight, I finished up two sweet Nursery Rhyme clip art sets.  I am happy with the way they turned out.  You can peek at them here...and they are both for personal AND commercial use!

What I'm Reading...AND...GIVEAWAY!

I love having time {and energy} to read in the summer!  Throughout the school year, I try to read but I end up falling asleep, so I give up!  My summer reads this year are Daily 5 and CAFE.  I have heard about this so much, but never have done it.  So, with changing to 2nd grade for the upcoming school year, I thought what better time!  It was first on my list, so I could get this started right away next year!

I'm really big into whole brain teaching, so I want to reread my book, Worksheets Don't Grow Dendrites.  I was fortunate enough to get to attend one of Marcia Tate's workshops, and she is AWESOME!!!

Rockin' Resources

Kelley at Teacher Idea Factory is hosting her first Linky Party.

1.  We use our CPS everyday!  The kiddos call them "clickers" and LOVE them!  I LOVE that I don't have anything to grade when I use these!  It does all the work for me!

2.  Brain Pop Jr.  Gotta LOVE Annie and Moby!  

3.  Elements of Reading:  VocabularyLOVE*LOVE  This is AWESOME...robust vocabulary, great motivational activities, colorful, realistic...Fab-U-lous program!  My kiddos beg for this!You can read more about this program in one of my posts here.

One Year...

It seemed like FOREVER for our new school building to be finished!  It's hard to believe that last year at this time, we were waiting on the "ok" to start moving stuff over to our new green school.  I remember all the workers, staff and helpers pitching in and getting everything moved out of the old building and into the new one {that was constructed directly behind the old one}!  

I remember wondering how this was all going to come together by the time school started...tearing down the old building, 

getting the front of the school {yard} ready, playground installed, etc. etc. but we made it!

It is really hard to believe that we have already completed one year in our new building {as of tomorrow}.   Unbelievable how fast it seemed to go!

Last Week and FREEBIES

Wow!  This year has flown by.  I can't believe I'll be starting the last week of school tomorrow....AND I can't believe after 14 years, I'll be leaving 3rd grade!  While I'm sad to leave my insanely awesome team, I am excited for a new venture in 2nd grade!

For Upcoming Students FREEBIE

At the end of each year, I have my third graders write a letter to an upcoming third grader.  In this letter, they inform them about things they will learn, expectations, about their teacher, etc.  The students really enjoy doing this, and my next year students love being on the receiving end!

So, this freebie came from that idea.  There are five pages to choose from.  I hope your kiddos enjoy making these for your upcoming students.

All Worth It!

Each year, our school presents one senior that was a former student of our school with a scholarship.  Tonight, I had the honor of announcing the recipient of the East Lincoln Elementary Scholarship...one of my former students.
I don't particularly like public speaking but it went ok...and I was not going to turn this chance blessing down!  I don't remember everything I said, but I do remember describing this young man when I had him in third grade.  I will always remember him with a huge smile on his face.  He was full of hopes and dreams even in third grade, and I knew he would go far!  He has accomplished so much in his high school years...and will continue doing so as he heads off to Belmont College on a scholarship, as well!

Actually, I had the pleasure of teaching all of the kids in this precious family!  They are all doing great things!  Great kids!  Great parents!    Me...blessed!!!  This is what it's all about!{The oldest girl isn't pictured as she is away at college.  Luckily the oldest son was home from college for the awards ceremony}.
